Freedom Convoy Protesters Once More Assemble at BC Parliament in Victoria
Thousands once again gathered at BC’s Legislature in Victoria to protest COVID mandates, and it went even wilder than the previous times.
Whereas the protesters would usually remain on either side of the street, today hundreds literally took to the street and swarmed the trucks, blocking all traffic. The police eventually closed Belleville street in front of the Parliament building in resignation.
The event was also better organised and more political than previous instances, with the People’s Party of Canada having a stronger display than before; Maxime Bernier even gave a remote address to the crowd from Quebec City. Multiple organisations were holding fundraisers as well, announcing their intent to escalate the scale and frequency of protests.
The message was roughly the same, with some protesting recent measures such as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s invocation of the Emergencies Act. More wartime measures can only vindicate protesters already ranting about tyranny, so it strikes me as just pouring even more fuel on the fire. How many more protests will it take for politicians to stop comparing protesters to thugs and skinheads? Time will tell. In the meantime, you may tell your elected representative how you feel about it.
