I'm done with the censorship, the rabid AI moderation, the sham review process, the news block, and never being able to talk to a support person.
I’ve been warning a while ago that my Meta accounts should be considered deprecated. Well, I’m done with Facebook and Instagram. I will abandon them in thirty days. And I don’t care if I lose three fourths of my followers in the process.
I’m fed up with the censorship, especially when it comes to Palestine. I can’t stand accounts going dark for denouncing human rights violations, and I’m done tracking backup accounts.
I can’t stand the rabid AI moderation which treats just about anything as spam or whatever. I’m tired of my comments being taken down for no apparent reason. I’m done with the shadow banning and arbitrary restrictions. I can’t put up with a sham appeal process which only features radio boxes with absurd options, and being declined for no reason whatsoever, without ever being able to talk to an actual person.
I’m tired of the news block, and the game of cat and mouse in circumventing it. My platform exists to share news about activism, and if it’s too much trouble on a given social media account then I just don’t see the point.
I could go on forever about the glitches, the annoying notifications, the features missing from the desktop interfaces, and just the fact Instagram was developed by blockheads. I’ve had it with all this shit!
So I’m pulling out, both as Rulebreakers and the Victoria Liberation Front, by December 26. You can follow me on the following platforms:
You can also subscribe to my blog directly via email or a WordPress account.
The Victoria Liberation Front will soon migrate to a Discord server where my own posts won’t be flagged as spam, goddammit.
If the rest of you would rather stick to platforms owned by billionaire egomaniacs, feel free. I’m leaving you behind. Farewell.
